I used to be a vegeterian, i was one for 7 years. How i got started, i was real young like 8 or 9 and i was round my grandmas for tea and she had made a fish pie and it was the first thing i had eaten that actually looked like an animal, if that make sense, you could tell they were fish. So i asked my mum if they were "real fish that swim in the sea" and when she said yeah i felt sick and said i was never going to eat meat again, and my mum didnt believe me cos i was so young and the next day shen gave me some meat and i went crazy, she then relised i wos serious about becomming a vegeterian so she stopped giing me it. But every meal i had after that i would ask if it was real meat and would be reallt worried that it was. That lasted abotu 2 years then i started trusting her. Because i started do youn its all i knew, mates would say how hard it must me but it reallty wasnt, it was just normal. I gave up becase i just didnt see the need of it anymore and my mums new boyfriend sells hotdogs and burgers for a living, and that is the only time i was tempted to eat meat so now i do which im abit dissapointed baout when i think about it. But being a vegeterian is a great thing to be, and pretty easy. Good luck

My in laws are from Singapore...over there they call eggplant Brinjal
[?spelling]...Jim cuts the eggplant into slices about 1/2" thick, washes it with sea salt, pats it dry, scores the slices - but not the skin [in the same pattern that you see on glazed ham].
He then spreads the slices out on a plate, places in the microwave for about 1 min. [this helps speed up the cooking process]
- heat a small amount of virgin Olive oil in an open frypan...place the slices in, sprinkle with tumeric and/or a good curry powder/paste [if you like curry that is] - sometimes he puts a bit of Paprika on [more for the colour than taste I think]...flip the slices a few times until they are cooked through - the flesh of the eggplant will change colour - becomes sort of opaque - let them drain a bit on paper towels and serve.

He LOVES them.

S.
That sounds really nice!! I'll have to try that sometime. Thanks!

Heheheh..that makes me chuckle because if I didn't eat what my mom was serving that night for dinner, I didn't eat at all. No special menu's here. Take it or leave it. But because of this I am not really a picky eater. Off topic I know, but your story made me think of that.
