There was a move to legalize cannabis here in Canada. The law would allow anyone caught with 30 grams or less to receive a ticket (much like a parking ticket) rather than being arrested. In addition, the ticket would not go on your police record if the fine was paid. Cannabis is something like the second largest cash crop in Canada. If the government were to legaliza, the profits that they reap should be put into social programs.

True up to a point. There are certain things you can't abuse even if you try. If 99 % say you're wrong, there's a real strong possibility you really are.

But like I said, I'm not taking sides here, everyone's entitled to do what they want. I'm just taking part, because Mike seemed to be pretty alone in this thread...

Unfortunately though it isn't a cut & dry matter. There is no clear right & wrong.

It can be used in small quantities without long-term harm.

Yet it isn't harmless.

I just view this from, would we have legalised alcohol if it was introduced today?? & I think the answer would be no.

Totally and completely against it. I've seen someone in my family as well as an ex friend ruin their lives because of drugs and alcohol. And from that experience, it seemed that the more they drank, the more drugs they did. They started out with marijuana and moved on to the bigger things. That is my own personal experience. I've never known anyone who smoked marijuana regulary not end up having bigger problems. Drugs are drugs in my opinion, whether it's a "mild" drug or hard drugs.

Cancer..need I say more? 1 joint is like smoking 10 cigarettes, or something crazy like that.

Actually one of the studies I read said that smoking cannabis was less harmful than cigarettes as cannabis is purer in form and you use less tobacco, which is full of all kinds of chemicals.

depends on the size of your joint but i did hear that report as well,i think it depends on how that reseacher feels about canabis to what there results will end up
