I just want to comment that, since religion is in the most countries of the world closely connected to nationality. Even though many of the countries in the western world doesn't have this, the most countries still do. So I would say that it isn't fair to only speak of religions as the main factor behind wars, but also cultures.

And, I find it hard to believe that anyone would like to erase cultures, as people might want to do with religions.
