You see, I take christmas seriously. I only get a couple of gifts for my son, so there is not much presents shopping. However, decorations galore! Cookies. Caroling! Fundraising parties! Over a month of comfy cozy loving warmth! That's what christmas should be and that is what I want my house to be like. Never mind the shopping and presents ... there is nothing more precious than memories and time spent together.

This is my first christmas where I get to call ALL the shots and am in a place where I am sooo comfortable and what is supposed to be our HOME!

To not be ready for it is truly a nightmare

Before that, I need to get up more Halloween decorations and bake more pizza
That's exactly how I used to be - maybe it's just age. We usually have a bunch of people around and lots of homemade music. Since I'm Italian there is also lots (and lots) of food LOL. Unfortunately - over the years people that we have celebrated with have moved and kids have grown up. For awhile even kids that went off to college came back at Christmas but now some of them are 30 themselves and have moved away. Fortunately all my family is still around here but it's not as big a celebration as it used to be.

You scared me, Yvonne! I love Christmas but hate buying presents - they only give me headaches, trying to find out what everyone will like. I wonder at people who actually enjoy the process.

That "8 week" thing has left me gaping, honestly.

*sigh* I get seriously depressed by the mere thought of having only one son who will inevitably go to his wifes house for christmas dinners *sobs* as my house will be so boring with work people and a couple of neighbor friends ..... I want that house with four grown kids and their spouses, drinking wine and feasting on roast beef......... *sobs more*

Maybe we should get together for Christmas Maria One of my sons is already married and the other one is on his way to being married. My daughter is off to college next year. I might actually have to start talking to my husband again LOL.

We used to joke that we talked on the phone at work during the day because we never got a word together at home with all the kids - not anymore

Hopefully, we'll be able to go away for a few days - just to avoid this kind of shit. All festivities where relatives expect me to show up, be nice, sit tight and give them a feeling I really enjoy myself, just annoy me big time.

It's so nice to hear someone else say that too. I always feel guilty when I think that way about Christmas and relatives LOL. My Mother always comes to my house and she is so disapproving of the way we do things. I mean - we actually play rock and roll at Christmastime - horrors.
