despite all our whinging and moaning allmike i can imagien much much worse places to stay and theres only a few countries i'd consider emmigrating to.

it's not in all places. it's on narrow city and town roads i think. and to be fair, you'd be pretty gutted if you're wing mirror was taken off because some inconsiderate git was parked too far from the curb.

its cos there are so many bad drivers who just cannot park, being parked to far from the curb can cause a lot of accidents.

Well 500mm is quite a lot, especially when you consider that roads aren't too wide. Would you prefer to park 750mm into the road, and get your car hit by another, or cause an accident?

OK I think £100 is excessive, but it is still quite a distance. Imagine if cars on both sides parked more than 500mm from the curb, that would narrow the whole road by 1000mm, so larger vehicles may have trouble getting through.
