BANG we have a winner. ever notice the places they actually need cameras they have signs to slow u down but the places that arent as dangerous whereu can speed ie long quiet straights they do have cameras
Maybe the reason they aren't so dangerous is because they have camera's
Or maybe they were never dangerous and didnt need cameras

U know the easiest way to avoid being caught by a speed camera??

Wait for it - this is ground breaking stuff:

Drive to the speed limit

mike, most people dont spee don dangerous roads for obviosu reasons

people speed on nice long straight roads cos theres very little chance of an accident.

i dunno if u drive or not but if u do u'll know fine well the majority of cameras or on long straights with no real danger if ur a little over the limit.

while we're at it, a couple of papers today had an ex copper in it telling them how the cops have a competition going to see who can get the most money from sdpeed cameras and parking fines etc... he claimed one guy alone in his force racked up 20 g's worth of fines in an 8 hour shift and when the paper foned up the people that deal with the fines they said they couldnt give specific details but £20,000 wasnt even the highest amount someones gave out in fines in an 8 hour shift.

thats like 3 grand an hour nearly

I drive 80 miles a day. My journey consists of battling out of Nottingham, driving at the speed limit through accident black spots where there are cameras. Then speeding down the M1 & A50, where there are no cameras. I can tell you that most of the traffic jams due to accidents I experience are on the A50 & M1.

At the end of the day, speed limits are there for a reason - breaking these limits is not a right, it is illegal. Cameras are merely a way of upholding this. If not so many people broke the speed limit where cameras are, they might not be seen as so financially viable.

I would think they might have the same sort of competition with burglars. They can't catch you if you are not breaking the limit.

The way I see it, if u want to speed - it is your choice just don't moan about the consequences. I speed every day & if / when I get caught it will be my fault.

Hasn't road safety been increasing as a result though?

actually mike whilst revenue from cameras has rocketed but 100's of % since they were introduced, the amount of accidents and road deaths has stayed pretty much constant with the level it was at before they were introduced.
