Cricket- Warne Gets 12 Months.
Shane Warne has been found guilty of taking a banned substance and has been subsequently suspended from all forms of cricket. The effects this will have on his long-term career are interesting.
Firstly, he was going to retire from One Day Cricket after the World Cup anyway, so it hasn't really affected him there, although he would've loved to bow out of this form of the game as part of a winning World Cup team.
He cannot play ANY first-class cricket. That means he cannot play for his home state, Victoria or his County side in England, where he plays in the Australian off-season.
Will he play Test cricket after he has served his suspension? I believe he will. I also believe that the sentence he has been given is fair. I think that he honestly made a mistake by taking the pill without checking the contents. Still, with the level of professionalism in sport today, and also the fact that he had plenty of medical staff around the Australian team that he could've consulted, means that carelessness should not and correctly has not been tolerated.
