And Starbucks (in this country) showcases a few albums near their checkout counter which boosts record sales. Starbucks originally approached Bruces record company themselves.

I was in High School when Louie Louie came out (by the Kingsman anyway). I don't recall a single problem here in Jersey at the time.

I totally agree with you Kathleen about this annoying habits to take things out of their context ... this song is like you said just the oppotite of the glorification of this form of sex (protitution) but i suppose the censor didn't even took time to read and understand the lyrics ...

I don't want to sound harsh but what is this habit to DECIDE for others (the regular citizens) what is GOOD or BAD ? isn't this irritating or even insulting for the regular ppl .. i would just HATE that ... I know it's common in europe but we don't have censor at all anywhere ....so for me reading this make me cring .. like you said where is the freedom if a coffee shop has some power in cd sells ?

of course ... I think it's that our shcools are not religious .. and any religion artfacts are not allowed to protect everyone of any religious leadership our public school are la•c ....I don't agree with that but this is not the point of the thread at all ... funny how the shcool artfacts bann was a big fuss outside France ...

I don't think my country is the leadership of what is freedom about (we just created I think the Universal Declaration of Human Rights but it was long time ago ... )

What I mean is just that we don't have censor on tv and our supermarket or coffee shop are not welcome to censor a cd or not ... though I would love to censor Arash's avatar .. but I cannot ....

That's how I read it too.

I totally agree with this, so I don't think you're too sensitive.

You're against censorship, but you'd love to censor Arash's avatar? That's kind of a contradiction, isn't it?

yes TOTALLY .. I am not perfect ... and this is why I posted it .. I could have shut my mouth abiut arash avatar but I didn't ... *just* to let you post about it .. I am against censorship BUT I would love this avatar to be banned and and you to feel offended by (i can dream ) this is the problem of censor: what worth it and what doesn't ...... the thread is about starbuck coffee censoring the Bruce Cd it's not about censor generally said and this is a though discussion .. like Jim said about artfacts in shcool I added my contracdiction on this ...

this is still quite away from Bruce post but it's still about censor .... I cannot banned Arash avatar but I say I would love to remove it I think it's a shame to post this ... if I was a mod I would censor this but won't censor Bruce cd and won't say non sense about it ...

You're not against cencorship of you want Arash' avatar to be banned. It's as simple as that. So, you're not against it.

I can only comment to Starbuck's reaction. Why should they sell the album? If they don't sell it because of the line with anal sex, that does NOT make it censorship (IMO). If Starbucks decides it will be very choosy in what cds it sells or not, more power to them. Who cares?

yes I am ok for any corporation to give their opinion on music just as I give my opinion on music as an individual. Their opinion means as little as mine. If I choose not to buy a cd, any given corporation should have the right not to sell it if they so choose.

no, I don't care for their opinion but I know most people don't really care about my opinion either - I still have it though and I voice it

No, I am not pissed at all. Why should I???? I get my cd wherever I want - I've never bought cds at Starbucks. In fact, I am more pissed that Target doesn't carry the new Ryan Adams cd and I had to go all the way to Best Buy to get it. See - not everybody sells everything.

Oh, and who are you to say what business Starbucks is in and what it isn't? Music sales is, in fact, a growing part of Starbucks business - more power to them.

BTW, they just signed a no-name alternative rock band to sell their album at their stores!! I think that is great!
