And my question remains--who's going to pay for all the free stuff? Where's the Free Fairy? Sounds good... but tell me where it's coming from.
I'm not sure about other candidates but if you listen to Bernie - the money will come from the top 1% being expected to pay (what used to be) their fair share.

But you know as well as I do that the Top 1% is just going to pass their cost on down to the consumer so it still lands on the already struggling "middle class." The poor benefit and the rich feel no pain. The struggling get kicked in the teeth again. I don't think "middle class" even really exists anymore. There are the people living on government assistance, the rich, and the "you're screwed" class.

I hear your anger - and I agree. But at some point, the pendulum has to swing (a bit) otherwise there will be no middle class in this country at all.
If the YOUNG people would get out and vote and not just for President but for congress - Bernie (or even someone like him) might just be able to make a difference.

There isn't much of a true middle class now, IMO. There's the rich, the poor who are on government assistance, and the working poor who can't get a break for anything. That's why I'm not crazy about the Democrats OR the Republicans. The poor have been voting for Democrats for 50 years and they're still poor and looking for more handouts. The Republicans are catering to the rich. No one gives a crap about those of us who actually have to work and scrape by every month and and actually worry about how we are going to pay our medical bills since we DO have to meet deductibles and copays and such. We don't qualify for free phones, free school lunches for our kids, free pedicures (yes, you can get free pedicures with government assistance), free blah, blah, blah... We can't get anything except taxed to damn death. Over 1/3 of my paycheck goes to paying health insurance and taxes. Bernie doesn't give a $*** about me. But neither does Donald.

I disagree Becky - YOU are exactly who Bernie cares about. The middle class person with a full time job who can't afford to send their kids to college. Or the person who gets diagnosed with cancer and they can't afford health care. He has made that clear time and time again.

I'm paying close attention to a few of the candidates on both sides and Bernie is one of them. I just think the ones that have brains will need magic wands to get anything accomplished because they'll be stuck working with a bunch of monkeys in Congress who have been there for 40 years already.

Yes, it all looks good on paper, but how is it going to work in reality? If you were in the Top 1%, would you put up with the government wanting to take nearly half your income? I don't think so... you'd pass it on to the consumer of whatever your business was. I know I'm pissed off at the amount of taxes I pay and I'm nowhere near the top 1%. Also is it fair to tax someone half their income just because they make more than everyone else? Maybe they make more because they had the initiative and creativity to earn more (like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates or, if she lived in the USA, JK Rowling.) Should they be, in effect, punished for being smarter than the rest of us? I honestly don't know what to think. I don't know that Robin Hood economics is the answer either because I think it will just wind up costing the consumer more in the long run. If I-phones cost $400 now, they'll be $800 in 2 years. A $10 pizza today will be $18 in 2 years. So, once more, the consumer gets screwed.

HE is what the world needs? Such a conceited, American answer.

Why I love living in Canada right now, is that he is the laughing stock of everyone right now. Not a single person I know takes him seriously, because he is seriously such an incredible nut job. I literally watch him for the entertainment factor.

Geeze - such a negative viewpoint Becky. I grew up in a time when large corporations actually paid their fair share of taxes and did NOT pass costs on to their customers. If that were to happen today the corporation might try to pass costs on but if it were thought out ahead of time that would not be allowed to happen. This country needs to be able to work for EVERYONE again, not just the uber rich 1%.
