Oh - LOL!!!! Nope, don't need those once a year LOL thank goodness. I guess that is technically right. Here is a brief explanation of the differences between gynecologist and obstetrician:

An obstetrician is a physician who has successfully completed specialized education and training in the management of pregnancy, labor, and pueperium (the time-period directly following childbirth).

A gynecologist is a physician who has a successfully completed specialized education and training in the health of the female reproductive system, including the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases.


Though most of them are both, so they are commonly referred to as OB/GYN or common folks might just refer to them as obstetricians. Though technically, they mean a gynecologist

I know in Germany a gynecologist does both by definitition, right?
