It's always been a tool. One could argue about religion being invented for just that.

What's worse is that it can be, and has been, bad for those NOT involved.

well put it this way. the whole conflict in the middle east as in most cases int he world is based around something that no one can or ever will rpvoe ie the existance of God which pretty much destrosy organised religion as we know it.

i think the reason people think israel is a threat to the world is not because they think they have a big enough army to wreak havoc but the fact that there are so many jewish people in power across the world espescially the US in high up places meaning that what happens in Israel has alot of repurcussions for places all over the world.
have to disagree.
Why? What's your opinion?

I don't think it's based on the existence or not of God. Both sides strongly believe in its existence. And it is organised religion that pushes both sides to fight the other, since one of the main reasons of the war is that they disagree on how to share Jerusalem and other holy sites for example.

That could be one of the reasons yes. But I'm sure it's not the only one. The main one I think is that people realise that since Sharon is in place, Israel haven't been that keen to make any effort to reach peace, willingly saying palestinian people and terrorists are the same, maintaining that unstable situation that could lead the world into WW3.

True. Although I guess men are stupid enough to find other reasons.
