Default DivX's to MPEGs?

I thought there might be someone here who's solved this problem...

I have a few DivX - encoded videoclips that I'd like to burn on a VCD. The problem is that TMPGEnc doesn't recognize them properly. For example it thinks a clip about 32mins long is actually 98mins long and if I convert it I end up with a 32 minutes of soundless picture and the rest, over 60 mins of blackness. The other doesn't show a thing in TMPGEnc.

I've used GSpot and it says I have the required codecs, but the other bunch of vids I can't even watch. They're supposedly encoded with DivX5. something, and I have that installed, but they still don't work.

Is there a way to convert DivX's to MPEG? I've had success with other DivX's, but these ones don't seem to work...

Thanks.

Ice

Have you tried to fix it with DivFix? How about open it on Virtualdub and see what it is showing there?

VirtualDub claims they have "corrupted VBR audio", but DivFix doesn't do anything. I've striiped indexes, rebuilt them, but it's still faulty.

EDIT: not "corrupted", but "improper".

The problem is that there are no bad parts. It plays fine. I'm trying to re-encode it, and see if it works any better. This is the one using DivX3, BTW.

The ones using DivX5 seem to be really corrupted. If I play them, I only get the first frame and sound. Strange.

Havy you tried DVD2SVCD program? I think it´s pretty good. Although I dont have to do the conversion anymore. Just connect your display card to the TV with S-video and rock on the divxs

M

PS. DVD2SVCD handles all formats and does everything by itself. Even adds subtitles if you have them.

Nope, I'll have to try.

Works when you're at home, but if you want to look at the clips somewhere else?

Anyway, I'll try DVD2SVCD.

Nero 6 will burn DivX encoded files straight to VCD without you having to convert them to mpeg first

If this is true then Ahead software should be given a nobel price for this... cause the conversion takes about 20 hours or so.... Gotta try that one immediately. Do you know if it can burn SVCDs too?

Just curious

Don't know to be honest - I don't deal with SVCDs. I just know I had some DivX encoded files and I was having real problems with TMPGEnc. Someone suggested I try using Nero 6. I did - and I now have a VCD with the files on Takes about 3 hours to do a full CD, but it worked.
