I wouldn't be surprised if women cheat more. 'We' are better liars than men are so it might not always show in the statistics.
so so so true

I'd be EXTREMELY surprised if women cheated more. It just doesn't make sense. If there are such stats, I'd be very interested to see them.

Of all people I know, men cheat about 100% more than women :P

and I agree with Allwyns theory of sex being more of an emotional thing with women, hence when they sleep around, they are not in a relationship (obviously generalizing here).

It will defnetly shock me to the death, if they prove that women are more sluts then men or cheat more.... But it may vary from country to country?. But as whole its defnetly a guy who cheat or sluts more coz sex is not emotional thing for most of the men...

As i said these friend and colleuge of mine who cheat on their wife and gf endlessly.... can't even think (or tolerate at bit) of their wife doing the same thing for them.... So its double standard... They can be sluts they want coz its natural for men but women need to stick with one guy for rest of her life.... and if they findout that her husband is cheating then they should forgive them unconditionaly....

this is just about as pointless as saying: all guys have beards because a handful of my friends do or everyone is racist because I know a group of folk that are in the KKK.

I expect it depends on the personality and not on the sex. I don't think because you're a man you have less prejudices when it comes to cheating on your partner. Or the other way around, I don't care.

Of course it has. I know I'd be a lot more curious today if I hadn't known anyone before the right one.

what was said is: lots of guys have beards because most men I know have beards. Don't misconstrue what was said :P

and ponrauil, I bet if you did a study on people cheating on their spouses, you'd find the cheaters to have had more sex partners than the non-cheaters. Kind of makes sense from a statistical perspective. Plus, I doubt people cheat based on the fact that they are 'curious' as to how it would be with someone else. Like my boss likes to say 'I want to do it as much as possible before I need viagra' --- and he's been around the block a LOT!

I'm not so sure. It's not because a guy is a cheater that he'll keep changing women as often as underwear. I'd bet a vast majority of cheaters only have a couple of affairs in their life. For the rest of them, I think there's some addiction once you're started as well.

Spunky, is that waht you truly believe or what you WANT to believe? The statistics show that it's almost even and it probably is, taken account the fact that people tend not to tell about their affairs, women are more careful in that department.

* 22 percent of married men have strayed at least once during their married lives.
* 14 percent of married women have had affairs at least once during their married lives.
* Younger people are more likely candidates; in fact, younger women are as likely as younger men to be unfaithful.
* 70 percent of married women and 54 percent of married men did not know of their spouses' extramarital activity.
* 5 percent of married men and 3 percent of married women reported having sex with someone other than their spouse in the 1997.
* 22 percent of men and 14 percent of women admitted to having sexual relations outside their marriage sometime in their past.
* 90 percent of Americans believe adultery is morally wrong.
* 50 percent of Americans say President Clinton's adultery makes his moral standard "about the same as the average married man,'' according to a Time-CNN poll.
* 61 percent of Americans thought adultery should not be a crime in the United states; 35 percent thought it should; 4 percent had no opinion.
* 17 percent of divorces in the United States are caused by infidelity.

Source: Associated Press

Look at the numbers from a recent issue of Playboy Magazine:

-2 out of 3 women and 3 out of 4 men admit they have sexual thoughts about co-workers.

-86% of men and 81% of women admit they routinely flirt with the opposite sex.

-75% of men and 65% of women admit to having sex with people they work with.

And most of the statistics are old and the world's changing. People meet more people and get into more situations with them than they used to.

There's no point trying to make women any better, the emotion-issue doesn't really hold water.

And I agree with Ponrauil, curiosity has a lot to do with it.

That's what I didn't even dared to ask because I just couldn't believe what she wrote, what a sad perception of the opposite sex.
