when i get a phone call or a letter from somebody who wants money i always say no.

but i give money to some organisations for children's homes and i spend money when things like earthquakes happen in places where they need a lot of help afterwards and can't afford it or for the ICRC to help war victims etc. only organisations that i know well.

i only spend money for charity organisations where i know that at least 95% of the money is used for the thing that i spended it for. there are unfortunatly some organisations that take 20% or 30% for their own administration....

I donate to Concern every few months and if there are people selling things for charities I would buy it too....like Dafodil day and things like that.

The only one I donate money to is the local animal shelter. Recently, a fire chief from a local town was convicted of stealing $10,000 collected for the victims of 9/11. I've heard too many stories like that, so I shy away from most charities.

I personally don't donate money to charities, but my mom does. She gives to the Hospital For Sick Kids, the Canadian Cancer and Diabetes Societies and to Sharelife. That's are the only major ones though.

I do give to charity and volunteer my time for worthy causes. I'll be doing the Relay for Life (an 18 hour event that involves staying up all night walking laps around the football field at the local high school) for the American Cancer Society in a few weeks actually. I also give to a charity that helps our local children's hospital. And to some local animal shelters. I donate old clothing and other stuff from around the house too, but I don't really count that as charity work. I would be bothered though if I were receiving daily phone calls asking for donations.

I don't always give money to charities, when they come from door to door I look at the organisation...
Sometimes people just come 'round with a can for money for themselves. Not quite stimulating to donate, though

Aloha !

I've collected money with a friend of mine for a foundation we made up ourselves. We went from door to door in the rich parts of the towns near my village. It got us 150 dollars. Hehe.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

our school is really big on charity. every form has a class charity and a charity fund raising event 2 times every term.

we have an annual fete that generates so much money its amazing and that goes to a school charity and we also do loads of other parties for children and settlements around the city.

at home its compulsory to give to charity like a proportion of your wealth but on top that they're are always other causes. but we dont get phone calls or anything to that extent
