I was thinking about your "unassuming". I like it but I was searching for my dictionnary to get a synonym... but my dictionnary is gone. I'm pretty sure I've heard somewhere a word that meant the same but had a different sound!... Any Idea?

mmm somewhat like the opposite of self-assured...my dictionary says "not wanting to draw attention to yourself or to your abilities or status"

unassuming means you don't assume anything - ie you don't take for granted that something might happen

could it also mean that you are not assuming your responsibility, for example!

yes - you'd be unassuming of your responsibility
