double standards for the catholic church?

seems ive hit a strong nerve there shuggy. if u wud actually read my post u'd see that i said i have alot of Catholic friends who i ask about their beliefs and stuff so i'm not some idiot sitting in a pub in ibrox going aye man **** the pope and the ra.

yes i may support rangers and yes i may be a Protestant but that doesn;t make me a bad person. you linking the 2 is just showing sheer ignorance. i have protestant friends who support celtic and catholic friends who support Rangers, big deal it;s a ****ing sport get over it,.

as for the bigot comment. the term bigot is derived from the term Bi God-ite which was used by Catholic priests hundreds of years ago when they were burning Protestants for not accepting the Catholic religion. If a bigot is someone who's prepared to say i'd rather burn to death for my beliefs than be forced to believe something i don;t then respect to them.

and the Protestant church only came into existance as a back lash by Martin Luthor who was sick of the hypocracy, deceit and corruption within the Catholic church which still hasn;'t completely disappeared.


This isn't me attacking the Catholic church because i'm a Protestant. you may notice that every single other person here has agreed with me yet because i will openly admit to being a Protestant and a Rangers supporter you think it's fair game to jump on me.

this probably sounds like a stupid question but... why do catholics and protestants hate each other so much? its the same god and the same bible and both denominations come from christianity so theyre not exactly completely different, so why are they enemies?

If I remember correctly, which might be wrong.. Catholism still has the old rituals in it, like confession and stuff. Protestant is the newer religion and broke away from the old, so it's different.

Why they hate each other?? Haven't a clue and it is rather stupid, but that is religion in a nutshell basically, no tolerance for anything different. (This isn't a dig at anyone - just my opinion!!!)

as i said in my last post a german called Martin luthor was sick of the catholic church's corruption ie taking money off of people in order for their sins to be forgiven, pocketing donations to the church and the general hypocracy of alot of it (which exists in every religion i can think of not just the RC church)

so he posted about 96 amendments to the RC church that he wanted to implement and that's pretty much where the Protestant faith was born. The whole rivalry thing stems from the fact that the Protestant church broke away from the RC church because it disagreed with its ways.

Happens with alot of religions just so happens that this is one of the most obvious cases.

Its such a shame we dont all follow the rules of the bible, they are there to show us how to give and love one another without any form of sin, the world would then be a lot happier place.

i honestly believe people would get on better if we didn;t follow the Bibles teachings.

it may say love thy neighbour etc... but theres alot of contradiction sin there and at the very heart of it there's this idea that your faith is better than someones from a different church.

The bible isn't all that peace loving though... it is in general, but there are some definate contradictions to be found in there.

It doesnt say your faith is better than others in the bible, people have rewritten and put their own spin on what the bible contains. The bible says we are equal and we are not better than others.

i didn;t say the bible actually says that but there's the whole underlying thing there.

The bible was written to control people it.....it failed so we created money!. Sure i belive in god and the original concept but it was left to mankind to write and was naturaly twisted to suit peoples views on things!.
