The bible was written to control people it.....it failed so we created money!. Sure i belive in god and the original concept but it was left to mankind to write and was naturaly twisted to suit peoples views on things!.
the bible doesnt teach us to lie or misuse love as the world does. I dont think you can confuse Gods view point with peoples.

The Bible was written by man though, especially the New Testament. So whatever way you look at it, it is man's interpretation. I don't necessarily need the Bible to tell me how to live. Common sense should be able to tell you that.

the actual idea of the Bible as a whole is pretty off i mean God/ Jesus spoke to these people and they wrote their teachings down and somehow they all managed to come together.

nice in theory but i can't see it happening these days never mind that long ago.

I'm with you on that one Derek

If there is a god, and he is truly all loving and all powerful, why should people feel the need to spend time and energy "Praying" to him?

If you truly believe in god, you probably believe that he is everywhere all the time, and sees everyone, so why do you have to go to a designated building to sit and ask for things which are usually quite impossible?

Religion was created to give answers, to keep us under control. Without it, imagine how much chaos the world would have been in before the many scientific answers we have discovered in the past century.

The bible says that god created the world, and all that, in 7 days...then where the hell have these huge 65 million year old bones in the ground come from?

I agree that the bible presents us with realistic guidelines that we should live by (don't kill, steal etc), but aren't all those just common sense?

I said it before in a different topic, but it relates to this too:

Don't be a follower, be an individual.

youve made some very good points there.

isnt it funny how religion is supposed to give us answers, but instead it makes us ask more questions?
and isnt religion supposed to tell us how sacred our lives are, and how they mustnt be wasted? so if life is sacred and mustnt be wasted, shouldnt we be enjoying it and making the most of it while we can, instead of following the bible rules and worrying if god is gonna punish us if we do anything wrong? in a way, the religion is making people less individual, by restricting their free will with all those rules. (theres some weird rules, like u cant cut your hair at the sides of your head, or wear clothes made from more than 1 type of material!)

Some of u miss the point of religion....

It is not so much of having 'someone to pray & worship to' but to have a common goal & purpose in which we can live in peace and harmony, by respecting a number of guidelines. Someone above suggets it is common sense. However since the breakdown of religion, to a large number of people it doesn't seem to be common sense not to mug someone.

Unfortunately it creates its own problems in that a large number of ppl have one goal and purpose, will see another group of ppl having a different goal as evil, a threat & thus can justify holy wars.

there was, has and always will be crime and bad people even before the bible and long before most organised religion is gone.

i get the point of religion it gives people hope, faith something to look to etc... and i'm ok with that if u believe that God makes u stronger then im all for it but i don;t need an old book to tell me what to do with my lie and how to respect myself and others.
