It was a fantastic 11 days trip. Quite short, but packed - heavily. We drove over 2,500 miles in 10 days - each night, different place.
It is way too early to tell what I liked best - it's been all things I always wanted to see and all were impressive in a different way.

I found the wedding chapel only because I researched the location in front of my trip - like I did with many places we would have missed otherwise.

Just another few points for feeding stereotypes - or not: yes, many Americans are incredibly fat. Also, most Americans are incredibly nice (the most unable of being friendly are the Natives somehow...). If you don't like George W. Bush, move to the U.S. - you are nowhere near as safe of him as you are in his own country! We all know that this nation is huge - the states are all like own countries and "no one" cares for the "big picture" - because they can't, it is THAT huge. I mean, like really, it is unbelievable how huge and varied this country is! Bush has "no" say in the seperate states, then why should I care for Bush? Of course, one should, but it doesn't mean all Americans ares stupid like some people seem to believe... I don't know if anyone got what I was trying to say...

I get what you are trying to say - and I agree. I also appreciate the fact that you were able to notice the difference. All americans are not Bush lovers.

This country is so huge and the people who live here so different from one another that it's hard getting a consensus on anything.

was it one of those organised tours or did you travek yourself?

iive been looking into doing a month long tour right across the US when i finish my intitiation year of teaching as i'll have the money so it'd be cool to get some info from someone who's actually done it or tips on how to do it myself if it wasn't a pre booked tour.

What I found when travelling in the US is that the people you usually meet are not the stereotypes we know as the people who care only for the US and know nothing of the outside world. But quite to the contrary; they're generally very much interested in what's going on in Europe, or wherever. You just don't really meet the stereotype Americans, possibly because their not that interested in the foreign people visiting their country... I did met several people in the States who were actually apologising towards me (and other Europeans for that matter) for the fact that their country elected Bush, before even introducing themselves. Go figure...

Nice pictures Danilo ! Like Vallie said, brings back quite some memories to me too, I truly loved the South-West !

Actually, I knew of the difference before my vacation and it already made sense to me back then. I always thought it is easy to understand.
Over there, I only found myself acknowledged, but I couldn't imagine how BOLD this would occur. I almost felt like converted though, actually, my opinion had only been acknowledged. Don't know if this makes sense again.

It was organised - by my girlfriend who works in her mother's travel agency.
We had the flights, then we planned our route, then we booked the hotels. The good thing is you don't have to look for a place to stay. You can come to your hotel any time you want. So there is more time for the things you actually want to do and see.
The bad thing is you need to get to your next hotel, so your route-planning should be somewhat accurate and feasible.

Russ, yes, it was quite a distance, but it was the way we wanted it to be, so we could catch as many of the things as possible.

cool man. the STA at uni does these packages where you go along in a group on different routes kinda like i was supposed to do in egypt last year before i got ill.

at one point i was even considering flying to new york and basically trying to busk and hitchhike my way across and see how far i got but a bunch of guys on another board from the US said i'd spend more time and money paying fines for hitchhiking than actually getting anywhere these days
