Surely this sets a bad example to the childern, for example take Robbie WIlliams, an admitted drug user over and over again, what did we see of him repeated drug taking, didnt make a difference to his career, surely this send sa message to kids that its ok to take drugs it wont effect your life, hey look at Robbie Williams!
His career only took off after he became clean though, and how many singers have self exploded over taking drugs?? There are more stories that will deter children from taking drugs than there are encouraging ones.

Drugs are still illegal whoever takes them & if the police etc.. here about singers or whoever taking drugs, they generally take action.

Hey Super, you've said previously that you noticed Richie behaviour, its easy to spot drugged up behaviour, kids arent stupid, we are, to let it carry on in front of kids with out putting laws in place to stop it.
There are laws in place. Maybe they could be enforced more strongley but you cannot randomly test singers for drugs, without having to test everyone else.

Its like saying well if you want to be an athelete then its no to drugs, but there goes Liam from Oasis again, ok just another tortured singer living off millions we jsut let him carry on!!!!!!!
It is the athletes body though that tests for drugs. Not the government. Just like many firms have a random drugs testing facility in place.

Maybe it could be made the responsibility of the record company - but how many r going to implement that & risk losing their stars??

If a government introduces a policy it cannot be limited to music.
I agree it should be implemented into the modelling world to. Everyone who is about to perform, like an athelete performs, so i dont see the difference. Performing is someone showing off their skill or art, we dont allow an athelete to win races when they take drugs so we shouldnt allow a singer to reach number one who is using also.
Another difference between athletics & music/modelling is that in athletics, they are competing against each other. Taking drugs unlevels the playing field. Musicians are merely entertaining peple so there is no need for a music body regulating that. Drugs are taken in all wakes of life & its either everyone should be tested by a state controlled system, or no-one. Singling out musicians/modles is going after the soft target & leaving the real source of drugs, the dealers alone. If ppl base their drug use on that of their idols, there are far more case studies of why not to take drugs by ppl in the music industry.

There's also a huge difference between the drugs that athletes take, and the drugs that musicians or your everyday junkie takes. Performance enhancing drugs, even the most powerful ones like ASs, AASs or Prohormones are no where near the same class as speed, coke, heroin, even marijuana. The side effects of performance enhancing drugs are in the most part next to nothing, whereas I don't think I need to list any of the negative effects of other illegal drugs. Athletes who choose to use drugs do so for a specific purpose, and they generally use them responsibly and safely. The reason they are banned is because as Mike said, their use would result in unfair advantages to competing athletes. I won't state my thoughts on drugs in sports though because I doubt many people would agree, but lets just say I'm glad that my sport's governing body turns a blind eye to the use of ASs!

I see musicians as competing with other musicians for the No 1 spot and a large fan base. Whats worse these childern who they are suppose to be setting a good example to are supporting their music stars drug habit life style.

the reason drug testing is used in sport is to stop people gaining an unfair advantage. the drugs in question there are performance enhancers. there is no way you're telling me that taking drugs helps an artist get to number one?!

No one makes anyone do anythign apart from the person themselves. I can't think of one thing I've ever thougth hey i want to try that by seeing someone famous doing it with the exception of picking up the guitar which is only a positive thing.

The music industry is riddled with drugs from the top to the very bottom but again it's the persons personal choice.

I don't do any drugs for the mere fact that I likey drink and that's enough for me but you canhardly do a gig without someone smoking a joint or doing some coke but agai. that's their decision and it's not influencing anyone.

pour example' (as the french say) I've been sitting talking to one of the top men from scotlands biggest promotions company totally awestruck at tf people he's worked with and met (including bon jovi) and i'm sitting thinking this guy is cool as **** and he starts doing some coke and smoking while we're talkign away and he offers me some and i just refused. it's as simple as that.

no matter how much you look upto or respect the person. they don't make you taske anything, you do.

taking drugs or not is a matter of personal choice and should not be banned as long as this doesn't affect or harm other people.
if artists want/need to take drugs before their shows, who cares?

Their is no way we are going to be able to stop celebs taking drugs, Its stupid. And so many of them do it it think it is fine. Noone can make you do anything oyu dont want you have to be seriously messed up to copy everything your fave singer/actor does esp when it comes to drugs. I dont think their is anythign wrong with ahving a join every now and then, My brother does and hes one of the nicest guys you can meet and if his son grow up to be half the man he does hes doing well, I dotn see how that would be seen as setting a bad example so why should it be any different with celebs? Ok i like eminem, And he clearly takes drugs., But i dotn look at him and think "oh hes so cool im gonna go get stoned" I look at him and think "wot a great artist" Im sure jon takes some every now and then. Thers a difference between being a druggie and taking a joint evey now and then. Do you think us "kids" look at our fave artists and want to go take drugs cos they do? Thats stupid. If jon came out and admitted to being a druggie i would not then go and take drugs to be like him. I dunno if that made any sense cos im half asleep lol..
