Default Eating disorders

Ok, this is kind of weird. I always thought that eating disorders happen to high school girls, certainly not women my age or even older. I don't usually pay attention to how much or how little my friends eat, but I am starting to get really worried about my friend.

Ever since I've known her, she's been a size 2 (like really really thin) - she doesn't work out, so it is just that she really doesn't eat much. Thinking back, I know that she does order food, takes a couple of bites and that is it. I never thought much of it, after all, to be a size 2 at age 40, you really either have to work out a LOT or simply not eat. Working out is not in her genes.

We went to a concert on Saturday and we had to stand in line to get in and for food - about 1.5 hours in the glaring sun. She ordered a cheeseburger and I got a sandwich - we went over to the beergarden to get a beer and by the time we got there, I had about 3 bites off my sandwich (and I am a fast eater, so I know she couldn't have possibly had more) and she immediately put her food in the garbage. Again, I didn't think much of it, cause she always does that. She orders food, has a couple of bites and has it taken away. We got a beer and were just standing at a table when she said she needed to sit down. I told her I'd finish my beer real quick, but I could see that she was not doing well at all. I put my beer down and said, I'd come with her to find a seat - grabbing her arm. Then she passed out. Fortunately, she doesn't weigh anything, so it was easy for me to hold her, but I eventually had to put her down on the ground. The guys next to us immediately called security and the paramedics - she came to and we were brought behind the bar area. She said she was fine after that, but they had to keep her till the paramedics checked her out. While the firefighter/paramedics took her bloodpressure, I listened to the questions they asked her and it turns out she hadn't eaten all day. She did work out in the morning (rare occurance) had a coffee and a fruit smoothy in the afternoon. Then she 'claimed' to have had a big cheeseburger (which I know she only had a couple of bites of). They gave her a ton of gatorade and soon she felt better and we went to see the show. She kept saying that she only didn't eat because she was so busy that day, bla bla bla.... I told her that it was probably due to the not eating/drinking and the medications that she is on (she is going through radiation therapy) and that she needs to eat a bit more regular.

After the show, we went to a restaurant and ordered an appetizer and soup (she had a couple of spoonfuls of the soup and maybe two calamarie bits at most - we had most of it going back). She claimed she was fine, etc... then she called me the next day, telling me that she passed out again on her driveway, coming home. She is, of course, going in today to have herself checked out thoroughly, but I know she'll claim that she eats a lot.

After this incident, I kept thinking about her eating habits and I've always known that she lies about how much she eats, but just thought she likes to brag about how she can eat a lot and not gain weight. I KNOW how little she eats. She also does those things, like covering her food with a napkin, so nobody sees that she only took maybe a bite or tow, she also immediately trashes her food or has it going back. I am getting a bit worried about her, but I know I could never ask her point blank. For one, she'd dismiss my concerns immediately, and/or she'd lie about it. Not sure if she lies consciously or if she is in denial about how little she eats.

...just rambling, I guess.
