Blair's too busy with destroying Iraq. So he doesn't got the time to watch after the hooligans.

They aer not in it for the game, just for fighting.

What comes to English team, I dont think it would be fair to kick them out or ban from competitions to come. I guess smartest thing to do is to keep every english fan in England. Meaning, visa should be required when travelling out from England, that at least should keep them known hooligans aways from the games.

They've done that and obviously that doesn't work...

they haven't brought visas in at all. they've put a restraining order on the ones they could find either before, or sift out at the airports. they should be made to apply beforehand and be checked out; as stone has said.

Like stonedeaf said, they have nothing to do with football, they're there for the rioting. I don't understand how they can't keep them in England though... The police must know the names of the main rioters, and they should be banned from travelling outside of England. Like for example when England played Turkey in Turkey, they took quite extensive measures as far as I'm concerned, and I think that it went all well.

All I've read about it is that the officials said they're not gonna ban England, they don't consider it football hooliganism if it's not happening in the game. What happened in Albufeira is considered just touristic drunkness and fighting, not hooliganism, and England won't be punished at least for now.

the 'main' hooligans were banned but there were a number who travelled out on fake passports, as well as those who weren't football hooligans but simply couldn't handle their drink! festinger said that it is a situation that shapes a behaviour. a person who may normally be calm but under the influence of alcohol and with other like-minded fans is more likely to become violent than on his own. i'm guessing the people who were arrested probably wouldn't be the type to fight in stadiums, be racially abusive etc.

That's a point also. It's like they said, it's a touristic resort, people get too much to drink, stupidity multiplies in a group.

It was said in a Finnish paper by a columnist that the security measures at the stadiums in Portugal are pathetic, no one was searched, he could've taken a tank in there if he wanted. And also in the England-France game they handled it badly, so that even though there were no riots or anything, they were almost expecting it to happen, taking measures against it and in that way almost fueling them...

Until David Backham and co are running around smashing bottles over peoples heads then I don't see the point or justice in banning the actual team.

That's just goign to increase the problem at this tournament and the point is half the people arent even there for the games so they'll still travel to other tournaments even if England arent there.

Kicking them out is the only way to solve the problem. Its clear that the fa arent taking uefa's threats too seriously or this wouldnt be happening time after time after time after time after time after time after time........... Isnt it a bit funny that every other football assosiation manages to avoid there fans causing trouble but yet the english fa cannot?.

what more can the FA do?! the reason the other FAs seem to be doing so well is that they don't come from a country full of drunken louts.
