methinks the whole European Army is more to do with the fact that certain countries are agrieved that they dont have more sway in NATO...dont forget what happened last time a European Army was attempted to be created..

I don't think so but possible. I think it came back in European leaders minds when Europe couldn't solve the Yougoslavian and Kossovar issues by itself and needed the US in. That proved the EU (and the world) was still dependent on the US.

Well in some circumstances, when one is pissed as I am right now thanks to statements like shuggymac's, a joke may not sound like one.

Id rather suck up to America that sodding Brussels
Only Shuggymac was branded racist because... well... he is. Your only reason for not joining is based on our sovereignty. What does that stand for?.... An inferior NHS, Transport, crime, teenage pregnancy.

I know - lets align ourselves to a country that makes u PAY for medical care - has ridiculous foreign policies, & that we can't stand up to.

er, what is there to think about? That camp was built there so that the immigrants would try and get to Britain because france didnt want them, the french are more nationalistic and resistant to foreigners that we are !!!

me, a conservative? thats a good one ! Im not resistant to change, theres no bloody need for change. You make it sound like its Europe vs. America, join Europe or America will crush us!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your only reason thus far is because you are resistant to change. You don't want it because of our 1000's of years of heritage etc.... which btw we will not use. The Pound wasn't in use centuries ago. We only decimalised recently.

who cares where they wanted to go, European law states (all hail european law!!) they must claim for asylum in the first place they come to..

hmm whats that? A European law being silly and not working?
Is that like the banana rule? or having to take cars apart piece by piece according to EU rule, costing 10 times as much as it does to just crush the ****???
These were illegal immigrants Mongoose. The centre stopped them before they illegally crossed thru the chunnel to the UK.

This says it all - Number of countries openly criticizing the UK for legally blocking tax change proposals, 13. Number of countries openly criticizing France for an illegal beef ban, 0.

France 261, Germany 162, Italy 153,not the benefits from the EU - this is the number of times certain countries have been caught breaking EU laws this past year (99). And they have the nerve to accuse us of not being good Europeans!

Thanks to another daft EC directive, it is now illegal for duck-farmers to sell their animals in another part of the country.

Chancellor Schoder of Germany - the same Chancellor Schroder who recently said he would change German laws to stop British companies launching takeovers of his companies - has accused Tont Blair of protectionism. (another prime example why the EU will never work..)

Residents of Huttom-le-Hole, Farndale and Gillamoor in the Yorkshire Dales have been threatened that they will not be allowed to drink their local spring water - because the E.U. says it's not hard enough!
