lol great maybe bon jovi should try that in future lol to get a better chart position
BJM probably do it to. I just know for a fact westlifes people do it.

I've done been paid to buy records for bands before (not westlife thankfully ) but there's alot more that goes into chart placing than how many fans pony up the dough.
lol it`s not very good for making money if they buy all the records it self. they should pay us for buying jovi cd`s lol we`d thankfully take the money and buy all the albums 100 times

it's more for the publicity.

if a band goes to number 1 on it's debut then people start talking and for target demographics like teenage girls then having an "in" band that everyone is supposed to like is worth more than the initial money put out.

smaller bands on indie labels just want to break the top 40 to get a bit of exposure for the band and the label plus the major labels start taking notice of bands who can hit the top 75 a couple of times in succesion.

Yeah they are. They released the rat pack album...which I think flopped....and its understandable since most of their fans are young kids who wouldnt have a clue about any of those songs!
Last time I saw them on TV they were going back to the pop stuff lol.

It happens a lot that bands pay to go to a higher chart position, but also just to be played on the radio. I did my student training for a radio station in Belgium, and one of the guys working there told me that a Belgian pop singer (for those from Belgium: it's Sonny O'Brien) actually payed to get more airplay on the radio. It works, cause she gets played quite a lot sometimes while most of her songs are rubbish. It's bad that they let all these bands and artists go ahead, while hardly any new band breaks through nowadays, cause they don't get the necessary airplay.
