I was in a Bon Jovi concert and I yelled "Jon, you can't hit the high notes anymore!" and a bunch of backstagers attacked me. I had to spend a week in the hospital.

Jim:Oh, I know I did the right thing. Everybody walked away unharmed, which is a clear indicator of that. And I'll never escalate a situation by acting macho (self-preservation again). My fear is that my inability to act could, in the future, endanger myself, or worse, others.

in what way are you talking about, what kinda situations n stuff?

there's some instances where I don't even think before reacting like if i see some guy rough handling a girl around or something... i'd say if you NEED to act (as in it's imperative) it really is only the real pussies who'll not do anything.

In the situation I was involved in, I was menaced by one of three *expletive*. Never knew "What're you lookin' at?" could sound so cliched and so terrifying at the same time. Retreat wasn't an option so I stayed as far away as the terrain would permit, stayed alert, and kept my knife concealed but in my hand (would ONLY have used it if I was being immediately attacked). On their way out, they verbally harrassed three passing women, even going so far as to start physically approaching them.

I can, with one hundred percent honesty, say I have no idea what I would've done if they'd decided to make trouble with me, or worse the women. I'm afraid this makes me a coward, or is just a sign (for better or worse) that I'm human.

the fights I have been involved in have either been over a girl I didn't know was taken, or that someone was messing with one of my friends, in which case I always domy best to defend them.

One time I took a job working nights at a gas station, from midnight till 5 in the morning, and this dude comes in and calmly puts out a gun on the counter and says, give me all the money that's in the register and the reserve that's under it aswell, I just about shit my pants, but in no way was I gonna confront a guy with a firearm. That's the one scenario where I would gladly act like a chickenshit anytime.

I've been hit by a man once. He tried to talk me into bed or something and wasn't using the most polite words for that. I told him to **** off and he didn't take that too well. He came up to me and slapped me in my face. I was too surprised to do a thing, I just stared. Two boys who were in front of me saw it happen and turned to him, but he flew.

Second time I got in a violent situation was when there was an armed robbery in the supermarket I worked in. I was in the back and the robbery (and the shooting) took place in the front. I knew it was wiser to flee through the backdoor, but I wanted to go up front to see that my colleagues weren't shot or even dead. My other colleagues who were in the back with me, had to drag me outside. I always thought I'd run whenever something like that would happen to me, but it became very clear to me that you can never know how you'd react in a situation like that until you're in one.

Only really at school....I got hit by a girl 2 years above me (and about 1 foot taller than me). I wouldnt say I deserved it but me and a group of my mates did used to give her some s**t and make her life a misery. Having that happen to me knocked alot of the "cockyness" out of me at an early age which im greatful for now, I certainly never got into much trouble after that.

3 to one man, that's self preservation kicking in again. not many people are going to come out of a fight against 3 people the winner but IF and it's a big if, you do need to do something in that situation you need to go for the ringleader and hope you A: put him on his arse or at least beat him pretty good and B: do it to the point that the rest of them will shit it and run instead of jump on you. again, you did the right thing providing they didn't do anything to the women. in that situation i'd rtather take a beating than shit it and let a woman get harassed.

DO NOT carry a knife for your own sake
