Totally agree! If you're teaching a language you should know the basics at least. And critical acclaim isn't the most difficult example in the world..

my german teacher spoke 10 languages 'fluently', but she won't have known every french phrase; particularly one such as that which probably doesn't translate very well.

when i was in the US, i talked to a german teacher who also spoke german "fluently". found out pretty soon that we understood each other much better in english, he actually did not undertand a single sentence correctly. so don't say that this word is so easy and every english teacher should know it...

well they should at least be able to look it up though...

I'm curious to know where all this bitterness is coming from...or maybe I'm not... you made it up yourself (i.e. the absolute superiority of the English language) without anyone even hinting at it and now you're agreeing with yourself on this point. I find it quite amusing to be honest

I'm not surprised when you misspell words like "really". Anyway, "critical acclaim" is an everyday term, one that any self-respecting English teacher should know.

Yes, I speak fluent Finnish, Swedish and English, understnad German and French and a little bit of Dutch. And I'm also intelligent enough not to think learning English or any other language is bad for you.

Every physics teacher MUST understand the relativity theory, otherwise they don't understand physics as all our knowledge of physics is based on it.

And I didn't say a teacher should know EVERY word, but if he doesn't know the meaning of "critcal acclaim", he's just a crappy teacher.

hello? i was talking about GENERAL relativity theory. only about 20 people in the world really undertand it! i wasn't talking about this boring lorentz-transformation stuff....

totally wrong again. not even true for the special relativity theory. there are many independent areas in physics, most of them have nothing to do with relativity theory. like heat theory, quantum physics, string theory, ...

don't try to teach me about physics or maths!!
