The only way to get round file sharing from the sites end is to opperate from a nation that did not sign to the international copyright laws back at the start of the last century. Even at that Napster or some other big firm did this a few years ago and they got shut down anyways.

You're probably correct - at least this particular site is quite good about keeping anything officially released from being posted. No one is making any money from these bootlegs - except the losers who sell them on e-bay.

everything in my last post is completely true kathleen. anything that is recorded is subject to material and intellectual copyright wether it's an official U2 album or some guy recording himself taking a piss for whatever reason.

just because it's not getting released or hasn't been through the relevant publishing and copyright procedures to make it "official" doesn't mean they're public goods.

I can see where Jim is coming from, but I dont have to agree with him :P Well I do to some extent, but the thing is some artists approve of bootlegging and such. The only time an artist probably wouldnt like illegal bootlegs being made of live performances, is when the recording turns out to be of poor quality and it shows the artist in a bad light. Bootlegging doesnt exactly do anybody any harm in my opinion. Even JBJ has often commented about new songs being recorded at shows, before the 'album track' has been released officially. Artists from what I can see do not lose anything when tapers Record Live shows.
