No worries here! I hate turkey, can't stand the stuff. I think it tastes awfully dry for some reason. I don't like cranberry sauce or stuffing either. I'm not a very Thanksgiving type of person, I'm afraid.

We're going to my grandmothers about an hour or so away, where I will eat pie and sweet potatoes. Probably ham (she knows I don't like turkey) as well. After we eat dinner (around 2 or 3) we'll sit around the TV probably telling stories. If it's nice outside, I'll probably go outside and play with my younger cousins (there's only two older than me). I don't know if my older cousins are coming home from college yet, I guess I'll find out.
I get off school starting Thursday until Monday. Not much, but I'll take five days whenever I can. Christmas vacation is coming soon, so I'm looking foreward to that.
And I can't cook anything of substance. I'm pretty pathetic that way.

Turkey on Christmas..yuck!!! Give me lasagna any day.
We usually have turkey, but then again, our Thanksgiving isn't a month before Christmas

Stephanie
I should clarify. Nothing wrong with having turkey, but I would prefer some nice homecooked Italian food on Christmas!

I'd like Italian food on Christmas too, but my Oma would smack me for saying that

Stephanie
I agree - Italian food on Christmas is the rule at my house. Turkey is for Thanksgiving - only for tradition. I'll be cooking - I have lots of people over. My kids invite friends that have no family close for various reasons and I invite friends that might be alone otherwise. I start tomorrow with homemade cranberry sauce and pumpkin and apple pies. The rest of the cooking gets done early Thursday.
We all have Thursday and Friday plus the weekend off so it will be a nice time. Lots of homemade food and homemade music. Everyone that comes gets drafted making music even if it's the tambourine. One of my sons always puts up the Christmas lights the day after Thanksgiving so it kind of starts Christmas too.

Well, since I am Italian as are many of us in New Jersey, wop food as you so crudely put it is REAL food to us. Christmas is celebrated in Italy also in case you didn't know - probably with a lot more enthusiasm than in England. It is truly a feast - with many food associations. Some of these traditions were brought to this country by the Italian immigrants and still survive in many families here today.

is that "Im Italian" like loads of yanks say "Im Irish" ie my great grandfathers cat was brought over from Eire, so that makes me Irish too? If so, that amuses me greatly, because that makes me Dutch
I now feel the need to go out and eat/sleep/live a country that I have never been to, have no real ties to except for a group of my family coming from there many moons ago..
