We are going to a friends house for Thanksgiving dinner. I am in charge of the wine (of course - have picked out a dinner wine from a local winery on one of the islands plus a dessert wine from the same winery), green beans, and pecan pie.
Afterwards we'll probably take the dogs to the mountains to play in the snow (we have dinner at 1pm - to give us time to digest - lol).
We don't have family around, so spending the day with friends will be nice, though I am a bit put off, cause I like to get out the "special china" and set the table with the crystal and centerpiece, etc. Anyway, I'll probably make a special dinner at home on Friday.
I'll get off Thursday and Friday. The whole "days-off" game is just a great scheme if you ask me. If you are a professional you don't get overtime paid. We are chronically understaffed and this is the busy time of the year for us (though what time isn't?). So, we are working overtime the three days we are at work to meet all our deadlines so we can have off Thursdays and Friday. I worked Friday and Saturday last year just because I have too much work. Looks like it might happen again this year. Though, I'll have a talk with my boss shortly about it. In the end it is always me who picks up the pieces and lets others go home and takes the ultimate responsibility. Though, after the crappy bonus of last year, I am determined not to let that happen again.
