No, we have normal teeth (although Austin Powers didn't really help, lol), but the stereotype seems to be that Americans all have theirs painted an un-natural perfect white

I agree, I'd like to add though (albeit it is in a different scale regarding territory) that it is a bad comparison. I am sure that most Americans don't know all the states of Germany (nor how many there are at all) nor their capitals.
No, it is a perfect example. The size of the US is from Portugal to Moscow and Scandinavia to Tunisia --- therefore, we need to compare on a size basis not just number of countries basis. If we compare on a strict country basis, then I could argue that Europeans have the complete easy task of memorizing only the location of the big US vs. Americans should memorize all countries of Europe. Now, don't come back saying that Europeans know all countries in Europe, cause obviously, it is easier to know Germany borders on Austria and Switzerland and France and so forth if I go skiing in Austria and take a long weekend in France. Just like I go to Oregon for the weekend and skiing in Canada

Americans, no. Jon Bon Jovi, yes. (The "Everyday" video comes to mind)

No, but I have many friends that know England does indeed exist and Paris is in France, hence directly contradicting your stereotype. You don't seem to know this and thus you are hung up on your generalizations.

No I know that not all Americans are the same, just as not all Europeans or any other people from a specific place are, but again you haven't polled lots of people, you just said you have friends, so even if you had 100 friends, that's only a tiny % of the country isn't it?

Anyway as I said I don't believe that all Americans fit the stereotypes, nor are they a good idea, but they do exist and must originate somewhere.

I did. Not only did we have to memorize all countries and their capitals and major rivers, but I remember one geography exam in which we had to draw the map of Africa and outline its countries, including capitals, major rivers and mountain ranges. That school was in Germany.
Same here... we used to have weekly tests and sometimes we would need to know other major cities per country as well.

Damn, I was about to post that.
Hehe, sorry. Someone sent the link to me at work some time ago. Maybe it's just me but I found that "maantietotikka" or Europa Darts highly addictive, LOL.

And *ºÇåptäîn¤Çrä§hº* -- that picture with Germany and Switzerland was a classic! Although I have to admit that I was thinking about Austria at first, I had forgotten that there used to be a country called Czechoslovakia somewhere down there too. And now there's of course Czech and Slovakia.

Yes, Paris is in Texas. Cuba is in Alabama. Jamaica is a district in Queens (New York). And if you're wondering where London is, it's in Ontario, Canada.
