My Dad did that - hope you are in serious shape! Have you ever been or climbed a glacier?

I've looked at some more companies and one i';ve found includes flights from london to kilimanjaro airport so I wouldn't need to cross the border at kenya thus eliminatign the need for another visa and a certificate for yellow fever vaccination.
I am not getting this. Will you be climbing the mountain from Kenya or Tanzania? Either one you need your stuff for that respective country. Or did you think you needed both? Confused.

While you are there - do a Safari - you'd regret it otherwise.

the 1st company i looked at you flew into nairobi and crossed into tanzania but the 2nd company you go straight to kilimanjiro and they include flights from london so all I need to take car eof is the visa and inoculations so I'm probably going to go with them unless the student travel agency has anything they can do for me.

I'm in decent shape just now for the boxing but this I'm not going into this thinking it's goign to be anythign other than some proper hardcore shit so just now I'm keeping the boxing training up just as usual increasing the intensity every week or so and if I manage to get it all planned out and sorted I'll start doing more specific workouts to condition myself for it in the months running up to it.

my 1st choice was a safari thing that u went to kenya then over tanzania as well but to do both would cost an absolute fortune and be way too much hassle unless I just waited till next year and done both which coul dbe an idea....

The physical demands for boxing are very different from a hardcore hike on a glacier with varying extreme altitudes. Even running is much different.

If you really do it, go and get yourself fit for it - otherwise you'll have to wait near base camp and that would simply be a waste

Here is a website that gives you tons of info, including a training schedule.

http://www.climbingkilimanjaro.com/tips.htm

My Dad is one of the fittest guys - who regularly climbes and trecks glaciers. He takes people up there and makes sure they get back down safely - he has oodles of stories of people 'thinking' they are all so fit and end up a big liability on the mountain.

It would be an ueber cool experience, but make sure you are trained for it. You do have mountains over there, right? So, you should be doing overnight hikes in high altitudes and rainy and icy conditions to make sure you want to do this for 5 or 6 days.
