The Village Idiot in/near Chelsea. Cheap and good music. When Duelling Banjo's is played, everyone joins in hitting their beer glasses on the table.

Here is one review:

Village Idiot

• Address 355 West 14th Street,10014
• Telephone 212-989-7334
• Subway/Cross Street At 9th Avenue; A, C, E to 14th St or L to 8th Ave
• Hours 4pm-4am daily.
• Payment Cash
• Web Site
Ok, bottled beer may be $2-3.25, drafts $1-4, and $2.50 for well drinks, but I rather sit at home with a bottle by myself, than ever go back to the Village Idiot. The bar is dirty, the floor is grimy and the crowd is well, one who does not mind the mucky-feel. Oh yes and the music, the counrty music that is not just loud, but painstakingly enough to make your eardrums bleed, is all too inviting. -Rebecca Jimenez
