well, I must say if I can make someone happy by donating eggs, I surely would. An egg is absolutely not a child so maybe you feel somehow relative towards an egg, but that`s a bit weird.
Every time you have your period you are not talking about losing a child are you?
So why should you be talking about donating a kid when you donate that same egg that would be spoiled anyway?
And I must confess that when I would have donated...I could never say to that person: be welcome child of mine. Those who raised that person from the very very start are the parents..not the one who had a spare egg or sperm. Besides that there are always 2 persons or at least aone egg and sperm needed to make a child..With someone elses sperm I would have very different kids. Not an egg nor sperm is that important. Look how many times it is waisted.
Donatingto make someones live complete is the best you can do.

I guess we're talking about they wanting an egg and "turning" it into a baby! Why would someone want an egg just because? If it was for research or whatever I surely give one without second thoughts (if the result was not going to be a child). But I understood this topic as in "egg as the first step in the creation a human being"

I would donate eggs. I've seen the heartbreak not being able to convince can cause.

I would prefer to remain anon though (if it wasnt someone I knew.)

I think Kathleen said all, well my thoughts i mean.

Funny this question because i'm reading a Robin Cook book actually about this. And in fact (haven't finished yet) but eggs are for experience Of course it's a Robin Cook book, but it's so close to reality ! As Spunky said i'd like to know where the baby will be raised and by who. Even if it's not a easy situation either.
Donate to a laboratory and find out it was for experiences

I've donated sperm 2 times before.
They paid me 15 bucks each time, but they said it's stricktly confidential.
You do have to give your carachteristics, how you're hair is, your eye color and all that.

That's the thing, I don't have a child, i'm not a parent. To me a parent is the one who raises the kid, I have always known that cumming inside of someone won't make me a father, being there for my child when I have him/her will.
My sperm could be used for two reasons, for a couple to have a baby (ie if the father's infertile and has a lot of the same caracteristics I have they couple could choose to use my sperm) or a single woman that wants to have a child but doesn't have a partner(though that is hard to happen these days) or they could even use it for experiments of sorts. Who knows.
All I know is that if it gets used, not even the mother would know who I am.

I think that's very nice Javier, not easy for some persons (i respect and understand 100%), but hopefully there are men like you who can do it and live with this with no problem.

But you're already a dad Russ, and a very good one, i mean so close to his kids ! so it's normal that you think that.
Javier can't have the same view as you on that.
One day he'll have kids himself and maybe he will think of that, but i think he did it with good sense so it wouldn't be a bad memory or something full of doubts etc for him.
