I didn't know that but it seems they are debating whether it will be done again. I guess so but the summer change is not decided on yet.

Other than the fact that I always forget about it, switching times doesn't bother me. Though it does take me a while in the spring to get used to the change.

The hour earlier dark in the evening doesn't matter to me either. It's dark by the time I get home from work either way, so no difference to me.

On the bright side: only about two months and the days are getting longer again

I like it when it gets dark earlier and I know I'm happy with a little more light in the mornings. I'm not complaining. Especially now summer's really gone and done with. Phew. Bring on winter!!!!

They last at least 3 years so the expense is minimal. In my house - the kitchen is the place to hang in the winter - I even have speakers in the walls.

I only have them in the kitchen though. If you put them elsewhere they will fade colours and fabric - just like sunlight. So the kitchen with the tile is the place for them. You can read about them and SAD here:

Thanks for that Kathleen, i have a light right above where i work so i think i'll try and get one for there it might help .
I personnaly would prefer to have lighter evenings , i think it was the dept of health and safety said that 350 people each are killed because of the darker evenings so it does make sence to revert back to the older times . Now if we could just have those lights put up everywhere then it'll be like summer all year

I don't mind it too much now, used to be a bit depressing when I actually had a job though, I'd go to work on a Saturday, get in there at 7:30 and it'd be dark, then leave at 5 and itd still be dark! I need at least some daylight during the day

What's far more depressing though is the month of November in general, from the 6th - 30th of November absolutely nothing happens, and I'm gonna have to start on my dreaded essays again

Technically winter time is the official, original time - daylight savings time / summer time was only put in practice somewhere last century in most countries . Before that people lived on the same times as we do right now year round.

I really enjoy the darker evenings... I can't wait for it to get colder either, it's way to warm for the time of the year.
