God, Vegetarians, and this terrible, tch tch, terrible world

Hello... Yeah..


So, I was wondering what everyone's opinions on God might be. Yes, God. Not that I'm trying to change your mind about what you believe, but I would like to ask certain questions..

1. Christians often speak of religious experiences which they believe to be totally real, but in different forms of worship, different people speak of THEIR OWN experiences with THEIR OWN 'gods' and truly believe them as well..? If the Christian God is the "only God" ..then what are these other Gods spoken of? Perhaps none of them are real?


Vegetarians..

Just wondering, does anyone not eat meat? I don't. Not completely for animal rights, although I disagree with the way America prepares their meals - animals born to die - .......but for health..


And, well..because I don't feel like going into any details of anything that I've previously typed and blah blah blah blah blah.......

Wait, let's face it.. I'm just trying to start a conversation..

Yes I believe in god. I got my own "religious experiences that made me believe", as corny as it sounds. I am catholic, by birth more than believe. Really I could be anything as I don't believe the christian god is the "one" god. In fact, I believe all gods are the same.

Vegetarian. I used to be. When I was pregnant I craved McDonalds cheeseburgers (which I never ate before) I had to give in (if you've ever been pregnant or known a pregnant person you understand). Nowadays, I eat meat, only because I don't cook as much as I used to. I also don't go shopping as much and make a lot more "prepared meals". I don't like it, but that is how it goes for now. Every now and then I'll make an effort to leave out meat. I feel sooo much better, but the real reason would be animal rights.

I have no religion, no God. But I leave the door open to some spirituality. I believe in such things as a soul or a spirit, to use the common words, I just don't put a divinity behind it. I wouldn't call myself totally faithless, because I strongly feel myself a part of Humanity and Nature, and in way I could say I "believe" in Nature (By Nature, I mean the Universe, it's organisation and evolution). It's all what is institutional about religions that keeps me away from them. To me it's such a personal and intimate matter, and it doesn't need worship or prayers, just respect and coherence.
I also believe there are several paths for one to find his way, and I respect other choices.

I eat meat, I believe it isn't unhealthy to eat some. The human being is omnivore, why go against it?

I've been raised Catholic but there has been a few events that have made me question my believe in God. I'm at a stage where I'm agnostic (I think this is the right word for it - not sure if God exists or not.

As for eating meat, oh yeah. Not too fond of pork, but I need red meat to survive. All the vegetarians here will probably slag me for that but it doesn't bother me.

my theory on God pretty much explains how everyones different ideas and experiences can still be God. not a person but an immaterial entity in their belief u know.

I don't believe in God, but in a higher power, not necessarily God. I also believe in reincarnation, but that's a different story..

I am also a vegetarian. Not because I don't agree with meat, but more I don't agree with the farming of animals and the mistreating of animals. I do not believe that animals were put on this earth for our pleasure and they are living, breathing, feeling creatures who also deserve a good life. With all the diseases that you can get from meat, I really don't understand why anyone would want to eat meat, but that is also another discussion.

I believe in a god -- but not in the way catholics see it (which i was born and raised). I've had my own beliefs for a while now, but still have been forced to go to catholism class, which was torture being preached to (which is the worst anyone could do to me because i like finding out my own beliefs on my own ), but now my parents are actually giving me the choice on which if i want to get confirmed or not. I know it's right for the religion to be confirmed, but if i have different beliefs i'm not sure or not. I have until Jan 11th to make up my mind -- lots of thinking until them

I'm i know someone who is a vegetarian because of health reasons...or maybe she doesn't have dairy for health reasons? I can't remember
I can normally eat meat - just as long as it hasn't come from my familys hunting. It makes me literally sick when i see an animal that my father or brother has killed while out hunting and knowing that they'll eat it. I can't eat anything like that -- it brings the whole reality that people kill animals to eat. And me, loving animals, hate that reality. But i have to face it. If i think about the cruelity of it all long enough, i'll end up a vegetarian.

Think about the cruelty.. especially if you love animals! I loved meat, but I love animals more and refuse to hurt them to have my slab of steak on my plate.

Re:God All I know is what I believe. And I'm not going to discount someone else's entire religion because the heirarchy in mine says to. As far as I'm concerned, we all worship the same God, just different faces and in different ways.

Re:Vegetarianism I am a vegetarian. Primarily because of animal cruelty, but also because its healthier. My dad's side of the family has a problem with heart disease, so I figure cutting out a lot of fat (in the form of meat) can't hurt. But its also true that that's just a good excuse, we've been vegetarians since I was like 5, well before I even knew about heart disease.
