as somebody who worked in a butchers for 3years, i will tell you now that meat isn't full of fat. obviously some parts are worse than others but if you're prepared to pay a little bit extra for the better cuts then what you're getting is essentially fatless flesh.

i don't agree that you can go your whole life without eating any meat at all and still have a more rounded and balanced diet than a meat-eater.

it is common scientific knowledge that u need meat in ur diet to be healthy and even at that i think the idea of not eating just because u feel bad for the animals is stupid cos lets face it ur vegetables are living things too and no one eats them.

lets look at it from another point of view. lots of people seem to think they have a purpose in life for being here. who r we to say that animals arent here to end their days in mcdonalds or help farmers cos lets face it they dont do much else do they?

Doctors know this too. My best friend was diagnosed with cancer and he was told to stop being a vegetarian and start eating meat.

this just reminded me about a time a while ago. my girlfriends little sister is really into horses to the point of obsession and got all moralistic about eatign meat so went vege for a bit but she started putting on weight some how so gave it up. very moralistic

had another mate that was veggie for over a year cos she wanted to see what it was like and just kept going. thens he got to t in the parek and realised u eat from the burger van or starve to death and quickly rejoined the dark side and was greatful for it.

Okay, this is turning into a pointless discussion. Meat lovers love meat and vegetarians don't, fine! It doesn't bother me in the slighest, I just refuse to put another living, breathing creature into my mouth. Now, before I am branded a hypocrite.. my leather is free-range, meaning that the animal that died was also eaten, not just killed for the leather. Smoking? It's dangerous for an animal to breathe the air nowadays anyway, so maybe I should stop driving too?
Not proven that BSE comes from animals? Yes they have, because cows were fed offal, it damaged their brains and blood, hence we get it from meat. Salmonella from vegetables, please tell me where you read that!! As far as I know, the only danger from vegetables is the pesticides that is sprayed on them.
Maybe in Finland they don't pump meat with water, but then Finland is the only country that doesn't, I find that hard to believe. Hormones the same, because people want leaner meat, the animals are made to be thinner by hormones, it happens everywhere.
A doctor told someone to eat meat because of cancer, again, I find that hard to believe. Today in Time magazine they said and I quote: "We eat roughly twice as much protein as we need, risking injury to our liver and kidneys. Many cuts of meat - red meat in particular - are high in saturated fats that have been linked to heart disease. Some studies suggest that eating meat may predispose us to cancer."

I would never try and convince someone to my believes, I would never ask you to substitute your beliefs for mine, but the facts are there, whether you choose to see it or not. I have choosen that no animal will die because of me, I think it is disgusting to eat dead flesh and I choose not to. That you want to is your choice.

Cows have BSE, but it has NOT been proven to infect humans via eating the meat.

Any salad or similar that has growed in an open field (not in a green house) is subjected to all kinds of bacteria and wild life. Birds carry salmonella often, did you know?

It's not allowed in any of the Nordic countries. As for hormones, they're not allowed either. Prove me wrong. I know I'm right.

Again, true. I wouldn't lie about it.

Half true. Saturated fats cause heart disease, but like Richie said, meat is basically completely fat free, if you know what you buy. If you buy fat, you'll get it.

Yes, the facts are there, I just don't like it when vegetarians think that it's somehow better to be a vegetarian. And you don't seem to know much about meat, 'cause most of your "facts" are hearsay. No offense, but I don't buy that.

And I'm not trying to make you stop being a vegetarian, I just want people to stop spreading lies. There are all sorts of propaganda around, but very small portion of it is true.

Ice, you to are sprouting propaganda from my vantage point. You believe what you write just as much as I do. Like I said I would not try and convince you otherwise and I am not saying that my way is better, it is just the lifestyle I choose. You say that it annoys you when vegetarians seem like they are better, well the same goes for meat eaters, the times I have to justify my choice is ridiculous.
I do not believe I am spreading lies, just as much as you believe you are not spreading lies, but you cannot say that vegetarians only believe propaganda because it does not fit your ideals.

I don't think I'm better because I don't like meat. I just love animals more than humans. And I don't smoke, it's smell nastily.

Agreed with that.

i think what ice was getting at is that theres a;ways this idea of vegetarians being on the moral high ground. ur doing somethign u shouldnt be and all that.

whether thats what he meant i dont know but thats the way alot of vegetarians come across whether its intentional or not.
