I don't know how long it really takes, but feel for you. It'll be hard at first, but you really will get used to it and will be no big deal at all. When I was pregnant, I didn't drink a sip the entire time plus the 6 months after. It was hard at first as I really like beer and wine - don't usually get wasted, but I just like a couple of glasses of merlot after work.

Stock up on the non-alcoholic beer. Once you are over the initial withdrawal, you'll find the non-alcoholic beer quite good. Much better than water all the time or pop.

Good for you and I'll root for ya!

once again someone does something Ive done

I decided to a few months ago due to financial restraints, I still went to the pub quiz on a tuesday for example but just had coke, and still went to the officers mess - again had coke. The hardest bit is your mates trying to get you to drink beer ;d

Again thanx for the support.

It's really more a psychological thing. I think I can do it but actually being able to do it and thinking I should be able to do it are 2 different things if you know what I mean.

I'll know I can go without drink if I need to instead of just sayign yeah I could give up if I wanted but I'm not going to.

I'm going to be able to get drunk so quick and cheap next month

Nice one Jim, hopefully when youve done it the first thing you wont wanna do is go out and get drunk.

I did it for a few weeks at the beginning of the year, it was actually harder than I imagined. Even if we go bowling, for a meal or to the pictures we always go for a drink first.

Let us know how ya get one
