I am always a bit nervy about big events. I would be concerned that on the revealing/official opening of any such building like this, would be a big day for terrorists. They can strike at any time of course, but it would cause even more chaos if they stuck on a day like that.

I think that would be silly. The best time to strike is on a day like any other. Any big event has too much security

I personally dont think they'll go for the towers again, if new ones are built they'll have so many new secuirty measures theyd prob target another building/landmark

Just for the record, there is an organization here in New York called Team Twin Towers. It is made up of many people who believe that the towers should be rebuilt. There are compelling financial reasons to reuse the existing foundations, they were so far underground that they were undamaged. I am a member of that group - you can check out the website here:

yes i saw that organisation, too but isn't it too late to start the plans from the scratch? i read that they should end with all these by the end of 2009 or 2010.

I think it's safe to say that a memorial park will definitely be included in any final plans however, there is no way they are going to waste all that prime real estate in lower Manhattan on only a park. They will definitely rebuild on that site.
