No it was never said but has been the message that the americans have put out.
To be honest, I live here and that message has not been put out. People that live here might have had that opinion, but that is not what the Gov.'t has been saying.

It was expected to be easier than it is though.

It is interesting, but isn't it just speculation based on the events.

Seems like the writer thought this would be tough and took the events of the war to support his opinions.

I mean nobody could really predict what Shock and Awe would accomplish. They could have hoped for the best scenario, but there are no guarantees.

No, I am talking about from the political point of view. It would've been good (politically) for both Blair and Bush if the conflict was over quickly and efficiently. It isn't going to be.

No pleasure...

Just disgust at the whole thing!!

I really hope it doesn't come to the point where the troops r being sent home in body bags....

With the Mood Bush is in a nuclear strike is more likely than withdrawal...

I am against the war - but hope for gods sake that it is over with quickly!!!!

People, this "war" has been going on for EIGHT days! World war 2 lasted 6 years!!

Casualities so far are about 50 soldiers.

In WWII there died 30 million people!!!!

Gives you some perspective...

If one person had died in this war, then it's one person who wouldn't have died if the war hadn't taken place...... Numbers measure the extent of the loss, but any loss at all is terrible.... I think so far it's about 20-22 (depending on whether those missing are found) British soldiers, of cource that's only what we know.... I was hearing yesterday, at some battle they predict as many as 700 could have been killed (Iraqi's I think, but which side they're on doesn't matter)..... A lot of people stand to die in this war, maybe not as many (no where near as many) as in WW2, but still people will loose their lives, you can't put perspective on this!

I've heard they expect the war will be easy, they were saying it all along. When questioned they kept saying things like 'this war wil not be easy, don't expect it to be easy....' They said this because propaganda had lead people to believe that the conclution is already decided, and it will be a short war....

I doubt if it isn't going their way they'll send in more troups.... I'm guessing if they really can't win, they'll start dropping bombs on civilians, and win the war that way

unless it was just a training exercise

one way or another the only way i'd see this war ending like vientam, 1st gulf etc...

is if it comes to election year and bush has grown so unpopular that they want him out

i don't see it happening
