Glad you had a great b-day! May I ask what you did? Or did you get any presents or anything?

Ryan

hm, my six year old woke me up at that the crack of dawn cause he was soooo excited about my birthday we pigged out on bacon and eggs for breakfast, then I spent several hours on the phone with relatives and friends. Took the dogs for a nice long walk in the mountains, then dinner at "Jack's" the best steak place in town

We don't do a lot of presents anymore. My parents send me money to buy myself something - just a token really - usually I spend it on flowers (though they would freak out if they knew I spend ALL the money on floweres - they have no idea how much flowers can be).
The best present is always my OLD friends remembering me, taking out an hour of their time to call me. That truly is what makes me happy.

Presents are a funny thing. At my age, I buy whatever it is I need and usually want. If I don't have the money to buy myself something, chances are my family and/or friends don't have the money either

A few years back (after I got a coffe-maker from my husband for my birthday ), I realized that the only way to make my birthday or any other special day perfect, is to take care of it myself. So, I did get myself a few birthday presents, one of which is a new cell phone - I got a smartphone which is probably a bit a waste for me as I hate reading manuals

I still enjoyed it though, and am quite happy to be able to report that I still have a good number of friends who remember my birthday and call me to catch up on a year worth of events
