i obviously don't have the experience that you do bu i wouldn't have thought this would be the case. i mean, we were all little sods at one stage but how rewarding is it when they come home with a good report from school or made a sport's team or just come for a hug?

absolutely. The best thing in the world. But oh so hard nonetheless.

I am blessed with a great kid, but I am afraid I'll screw it up

There are soo many fine lines. I want to be understanding and fun, but don't want him to turn into a whiney spoilt brat either. I don't want him to get hurt, but at the same time he needs to gather experiences for himself too.

Basically, as a parent you don't know if you are doing the right thing or are screwing up until many years later, when it is too late Or as someone said, whether or not a person was a good parent will be seen when their grandchildren have grown up. I pretty much agree with that.

But don't get me wrong. There is nothing better than a little sod coming home with his first hockey trophy wouldn't want to change it for the world
