Anyway, a 180° turn around is rarely admitted by anyone... online or offline. It takes time and probably "unconscious thinking" for a mind to change.

I think someone changing their mind completely through a debate of any kind is very rare if nigh on impossible but i agree with your unconscious thinking idea.
i was surprised by the amount of idea's i came away from my trip ine urope with even though it was only a few weeks because i got to experience alot of different peoples culture and ideas from across the world.
as someone who used to think global warming was a myth etc... and not reallyg ive a shit about the planet (as you and a few other people on here will be able to confirm) i came home after seeing how conservationalist they are on the continent and ive come to the conclusion that we don't do it simply because of laziness and not because there isn't a problem we have to deal with.
now i shout at people in work for using the wrong bins for cans etc... and don't even through bus tickets away unless they're going into a bin.
ideologically i supported the iraq war at 1st and thought saddam had wmd's but had shipped them out or hid them and with a little hindsight it's plain to see that this shower of shit GW and tony blair has turned on was nothing but a sham.
i've changed my views on nationality, religions and immigration etc... too through personal experiences which have been backed up with points of view i've come across from other people.
i don't think you can totally change someones perception on the spot but you can plant a seed that they may experience something that will turn on a lightbulb and they'll say: hey maybe so and so was right about that
