• Personal Details
Full name, address, telephone number. (Under Equal Opportunities, date of birth, nationality and marital status are optional.). Note that it can be useful (particularly towards the end of term) to state the dates at which you will be at each address (student vs. home)
• Education
Main focus on degree (projects/modules undertaken) or most recent qualification. 'A' levels (or equivalent) and GCSEs require only a brief listing - e.g. 8 GCSEs, 3 As, 5 Bs, or even just; 8 GCSEs, including English and Maths.
• Work Experience
Include work placements, summer jobs, voluntary work, any permanent or part time work. Allow two or three lines to describe duties of work which you consider most relevant (in its content or in the skills it enabled you to develop). Don't waffle - try to describe duties concisely.
• Computer Skills
Might be included under an "Other Skills" section, but merits a section on its own assuming you have enough to put in. Skills many graduates gain at university but underestimate are Word-processing and Internet browsing, both of which add to general competence and confidence with a computer.
• Other Skills
Not a section you necessarily have to include, but can be useful if you have limited work experience and computer skills. You might include a driving licence, typing speed (and qualifications), qualified first aider, and any competence with languages. It is also useful to mention any "transferable skills", such as communication skills, organisational skills and teamwork. It is even better if you can say how you got a skill - e.g. "dealing with complaints has made me assertive and able to negotiate" or "helping young children has taught me the importance of explaining things clearly and concisely, whilst remaining calm in trying circumstances".
• Interests/Activities
Avoid straight lists - expand a little, i.e. membership of any clubs/societies, what level do you play sport/musical instruments, etc. There is nothing wrong with saying you enjoy the normal student life - employers do not expect you to have sat in your room reading (indeed, you may be turned down if they think this is the case!)
It is important not to invent interests. An employer may pick something they consider unusual from this section and quiz you on it - they are interested in how your experience as a Guatemalan sheep-herder demonstrated team-work, (sports or committee work would be good examples, too), organisational achievements, and willingness to accept responsibility, but it will be obvious if you are waffling to cover up the fact that you only helped for half a day.

this is very interesting to me and I realize that different countries have different rules on it.

However, if you ever were to include either your date of birth and/or your marital status in a resume applying for a job in the US, it would be discarded immediately and no consideration would be given to the candidate. This is due to the numerous lawsuits about equal opportunity and what not and no big company would open itself up to any of those accusations. Hence, our HR department would not even screen your skills if there was any indication of age, race and/or marital status and your resume would land in the trash without another thought wasted.

Just something to keep in mind.

i didn't realise that.

Over here, it's almost the other way round. Sometimes they don't consider your application if you don't state your age or maritial status.

But it's good to know for future applications, thanks spunky!
