so in essence what your getting is leo fenders last idea of what a strat or tele should have been before he died. it's a little bit more expensive than the american strat (well maybe not i dunno what the going rate in greece is) but since not alot people know about them they can be had second hand for dirt cheap and they basuically feel sound and play like custom shop built fenders.

i've got one and i'll guarantee your mate that he'll be hard pressed to find a fender to rival them.

tell him to at leasdt enquire. as i say. it's a fender guitar without the fender name on it.

personally if i'd to choose between a better guitar and the closest leo fender ever came to perfectioin before his death and a worse guitar with the fender tag on it i know what i would be going for.

Guess it all comes down to the name again! Want a better quality guitar or pay the same price for a lesser guitar with 'Fender' written on it?!

Bit like Tokai in a way - you'd pay about £1000 more than what I did for a proper Gibson Les Paul but Japanese Tokai are just as good if not better!

Give these a ring too. They offer at least 20% off the RRP of all guitar equipment and free next day delivery in the UK so chances are they might ship stuff cheaper. It's worth asking anyway - +44 152 44 00 999.

They are based in Morecambe (Lancashire) ENGLAND so it might be cheaper ordering from them and getting it shipped from the UK rather than from the other side of the Atlantic!

Really well. It's being a bit of a bitch tuning-wise in that it keeps jumping slightly out between uses but I'm putting that down to the fact it's practically brand new so it'll take a while for the strings to wear in. It is getting better though. Might replace the strings actually cos I don't know what make they are and they sound and feel a bit duff!

Still can't decide whether I should go with scratchplate on or scratchplate off. If it was violin-burst I might be pushed more towards taking it off but seeing as it's cherry-burst I might keep it on! Decisions, decisions!!

godo to hear mate. if the tunings pissing you off whack some locking tuners in it. simple.

on a paul, providing every note isnt a big dodgy bend it should stay in tune for hours with them.

just oput of curiosity, is it all the strings or does it most notably happen on the G?

It always tends to be the G most notably (on all the guitars I own actually, well apart from the Samboras with locking nuts of course!). Tends to always go up in pitch if at all. It's just seems that when the G goes out, it's more noticeable than the other strings.

Nice looking Rickenbacker's - thinkin' of splashing out mate?

My philosophy's 'Life's too short!'

gibson style guitars are notorius for the G going out of tune. alot of it has to do with the nut never being cut properly for the G string (no pun intended) but there's alot of reasons why and no one really knows the exact one.

yeah as i say i've been listening to tom petty all day and the sound of ric's make me moist. my bro put on a gig for a band called ricky n they had ric's and the sound absolutely stunning even unplugged.

the fire glo has the classic ric look about it but rex from flickerstick has a black one n it looks pretty cool too.
