Default Help with Photoshop please

Hello

Ok, as i can't find again Picture it ! for the moment

I need something to do some invitations for the Christening of my sister's kids

She wants something with a picture of them and some text ! simple !

But when i tried photoshop months ago, i found it complicated and couldn't find the effects i used on Picture it !

Like changing the colour/light/size etc ... simple things but in Photoshop i didn't find them.

Can someone explain me please ?

Is there also a galery like in Picture it ! where you can use some funny cards, you know where you just add the head of someone in it etc ? if you see what i mean.

And is there some cards (like in Picture it !) with flowers frame for example ... ?

Hope someone can help me

This is the link to where i'm going to download Photoshop then you can see if it's the same as yours (it can help i think):

http://www.01net.com/recherche/index...system=windows

there is the Photoshop version 7.0.1 and the Photoshop CS 8.0 and others .... which one i should take ?

Thanks a lot !!!

I don't know exactly what you mean with changing the colour. The colour of the whole picture?

Anyway, you change the size with menu "Picture" -> "Picture Size..."
(I don't know if those are the correct words since I use a German version).
If you want to print it the resolution should be 300 dpi (mind you that this should already refer to your source picture) and then you can set width and height quite easily.

Colour and light you can change with menu "Picture" -> "Adjustments" and then try around a bit. The last submenu "Variations..." is quite nice.

I don't think so. You will have to import or create it yourself.

I don't know the CS version, I have 7.0, but I can't imagine Adobe did anything to not improve it.

Image - Adjustements, but I'd use Levels and Color Adjustements.

CS 2 is the new version and it has many improvements.

and I'd use Hue / Saturation to change around with the colours it's just whatever you're used to...

Photoshop isn't really that difficult... You just have to know where to find the basic stuff. You can do very advanced things with it, you just have to know what the basics are . Just play around with it!

And yeah, take CS if you can.

Great !!

Thanks for all the answers !

I'm downloading the CS version now and as you said Sara i have to play with it a bit. Now that i have some tips and where i can find the things to start with in the "menu" (colour light etc) i can try it again.

Thanks to you all, if i have any question i'll ask here because i must do my invitations quiclky now so maybe i won't be used to it quiclky enough.

If really i'm lost i'll ask but i'll try to not ask for "too much"

Shame though about the galery but if there is a way to create nice frames ourselves then it can be ok ....

Captain for the colour i meant "adjustement" i think is the word

Thanks again, wish me good luck

if you don't feel like creating a frame for the card yourself, you can just google for a nice one and use it (copy-paste-it) isn't too difficult

I spent two hours trying to do simple things, but i really can't with this software

It's so different from Picture it (i worked with since 4 years ) and i can't find the same functions ...... I did a few things but i can't work so much on a photo with Photoshop.

I think i just have to buy another screen then i can try my cd on the other pc .... if it's working then the problem with Picture it comes from my pc (formated two months ago ) If it's not working on the other pc then it means that is really the cd which is dead, so i'll try ebay to find the 2001 version !

I can't even removed Picture it from my HD now

I tried to repair it and it says the file D:\PIP\PIP2001_8T.its. is missing but i found it in one of the files in the cd. I don't understand.

Thanks again for your help. But as i need some space on my HD i'll remove photoshop. And i'm waiting for some RAM so for the mo i only have 128 and believe me, running photoshop with this ain't no fun

As you said Sara, i'll try to find something original on the web then my sister will be happy

Thanks again

Yeah, I just thought the Variations menu would be good to start out with, since it lists the whole picture with the changings in all the directions. It's very nice to compare what you had and what you get.
