Not a slam against the Germans at all - just a comment based on your story about the church being different in Germany when you were educated there. It may change for the worse unfortunately.

Ah, I see. Though, I don't think it is too much different from the Polish catholic church or any other European one. I think it's old country with old beliefs. I sooo rooted for the black South African candidate, though

It may seem racist that there has not been a black pope but surely it would be worse to elect a black pope simply because he is black.

This pope and the last pope will/have indirectly killed, and will continue to kill more innocent people then Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini combined, through their dangerous, idiotic and laughable preachings. Obviously the most dangerous and costly one is their teachings about contraceptives. How many lives could be saved or could've been saved in the past if the church came out said it was ok to wear condoms? 25 million people worldwide have died of aids, 18 million of those in Africa where religious practices are at their strongest. Then you have to consider the other 30 million people living with Aids or HIV in africa and the countless other who are infected everyday due to the churchs teachings. As far as I'm concerned the man should be arrested for crimes against humanity.

I could talk for hours about how ridiculous the belief in God and religion is but before millions of people start living their lives based on a book that has been proven categorogically as been written, not by some holy intervention, but rather by a group of Jewish leaders as propaganda, that one person could show me proof that god exists. Ofcourse nobody can because god dose not exist.

Science dosen't have every answer but it has disproven so many established Church teachings. The major ones are obviously, how the universe was created and how human beings came to exist. Neither had any devine help.

Everything we can't explain is "god". It's an inbuilt reaction for humans to find an explanation for everything and when we haven't been able to find an answer we explain it away through "god".

I think it is funny though that the more advanced a society gets the less belief in god there is.

Not really - everyone was pretty sure that the new Pope wouldn't be black. Although I would have loved to see that. Imagine those ultra-Catholic racist groups - it would have been interesting to see the reaction although I don't think it would have been a nice one.

I agree with Neil, though. It's the same with women in government and all those things. Sure, it's great they're there - but are they there because it looks nice that they are there or because they really deserved it?
