Default Hi all..it's been a while

been a hectic and very joyous past few weeks for myself and my family. Haven't had much opportunity to get online before now.

Flew to Perth [Western Australia] 6 weeks ago for the birth of our first grand child. Daughter no. 2 moved there with her b/f earlier this year. Very hard to say goodbye to Olivia, especially when she only found out a few weeks before she left that she was pregnant. Extra teary for me, as she flew out of Adelaide on Mothers Day!

Myself and my eldest daughter arrived in Perth Nov. 18th, then hubby followed one week later and daughter no. 3 arrived the following Sunday. After an 80 hour labour and eventually a c-section, Jessica Elizabeth arrived Dec. 4th. And yes, she is absolutely gorgeous.

Was wonderful that we could all be there when she was born, and that, not only could we spend some real quality time with Olivia, Michael and the baby, but also have the opportunity to see a lot of Perth. It is a really beautiful city.

All I have to do now is get the last few things organised for daughter no. 3's 21 st. birthday in 2 weeks time [nice of all and sundry to leave me with just on 3 weeks to pull this all together eh?!!] and then I can finally relax.

Wishing you all a great NYE and a wonderful 2007.

Cheers,
Sharon

Really great news Shaz - you must be thrilled. The pictures are beautiful. I haven't had a kid move too far (yet) - that must be tough.

And it's nice to see you here again - you should say hello more often

Kathleen

Nice to be back - I'll be around a bit more once we get our youngest's 21st. birthday done and dusted.

It is tough when they move so far away...though could have been worse...she could have moved to the other side of the world. Perth is the most isolated city on the planet and is over 2,000 miles from Adelaide. We can drive there [if we are *mad* enough] but that takes about 2+ days each way to do it safely, and I don't fancy miles and miles of nothing but the Nullabor [hubby is a car fiend though, so I'm guessing one of these days we will make the *great aussie drive*], the train is another option on the Indian Pacific but it is very expensive [sleepers where you don't have to share with a stranger are A$1250 ONE way]...so the plane it is. Olivia and Michael talked about moving to Perth last year and I was aghast at first but thought, "oh well...gives us a great reason to go to Perth", but gotta say, it is VERY hard when your first grand child is sooooooooo far away. Thank god for the internet and web cams.

Cheers,
Sharon

Yep...we are all thrilled...Jessica is also the first great grand child on both sides of the family. Funny how things change...I was trying to put the *skids* on turning 50 in 2008, never mind being a grand parent at 48. But, once I held Jessica when she was 1 hour old, all that vanished.

For sure it was a very tiring and anxious wait for over 3 days and poor Olivia was exhausted [long story that I won't bore all with, but baby was presenting wrong so no choice in the end but to do a c-section]...all worth it in the end...Jessica is adorable.

Have a wonderful NYE.
Cheers,
Sharon

Congrats! Newborn babies are SO cute, and your granddaughter sure is too. You must be thrilled.

The 80-hour labour was scary though

my cousin had a 24 hours labour (little more, little less, not sure) and i already thought it was just mean that they didn't do the c-section earlier, but 80 hours??? god... but she's a lovely baby, so i believe it was all worth it, and i hope mother and child are ok
