Thats the first sensible thing youve said this millenium.

I could also suggest a firm boot in the ribs everytime it offends. Hope this helps

You clearly don't know what crate training is. I don't blame you, Europeans aren't particularly familiar with the concept.

Crate training is the best one can do for their dogs for many many reasons. Can crates be misused? Absolutely. I doubt Jenn misuses the crate though.

I know what it is and I consider it a cruel way to house-train a puppy. It's really not necessary to lock the puppy in a cage to teach him/her how to hold it.

I haven't had a dog for many years (I have cats now) but my Mom raised Collie puppies and I never saw a cage or crate used. It usually took about a week to housetrain a puppy (and we always had lots of them around). What it really required was someone around almost constantly during that week to train the puppy. When there were multiple puppies the same age, they all seemed to learn at the same time or all together. I'm not sure if a cage is cruel but I do now that it's unnecessary in my experience.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, people are either unable or unwilling to be around and watch the puppies all day.

So, you have absolutely no idea what crate training is.

Don't be so judgemental about something you don't know anything about.

An excellent point Maria - with most peoples work schedules it can be impossible. It's one reason I have cats rather than dogs now - not because I wouldn't love to have a dog. My Mom was a teacher and only part time at that so she was at home far more during the day.
