I'm in southern Jersey at the shore and we have power here. It's a good time not to be home as I would have been stuck as would my husband. The Niagra Mohawk plant is the one that was responsible for the big blackout in 1965 so it obviously is a critical link.

Actually, there are no traffic lights, the transportation system is crippled, no phone access, no computers..it can f things up big time. People are literally stranded underground on the subways. Oh, no water either and it is 100 degrees here.

I've been trying to call my son at home but can't get through so I assume all of Northern Jersey is out. Well at least some of the cell phones are working now. My mom just called me from hers. She was in the Ikea in Elizabeth when it went out - it took her almost an hour just to get out of the store because it was pitch black and everyone was freaking out. She's on the turnpike now and traffic is a complete disaster.
