i understand...

I have a friend here from Bulgaria and I think he might be able to pronounce it... I think Bulgarian and Russian are similar in some respects...

he actually got me into listening to some Bulgarian folk music - but it sounded more like europop... some interesting melodies though...

i know its quite funny...
we have all sorts of music at home, including russian, polish, bulgarian and so on.
not much rock though except for quite a few beatles and bruce vinyls my parents own. the rest is just mixed: german 80s music, abba, michael jackson..........stuff like that.
i virtually grew up listening to abba and the beatles

i grew up with Michael Jackson and Queen Night At The Opera... and Eurythmics (from the radio)...

from my parents there was a lot of Pink Floyd, Queen, Springsteen, Wakeman etc... but i didn't actually get into that until mid 90s when I developed a rock taste of my own and realised that most of the bands I liked my parents had the vinyl or cds for...

i actually knew Bon jovi from livin' on a prayer and bad name and possibly KTF from radio and TV... but I really got into them through Always and Saturday Night from MTV - which is quite funny considering I tend to prefer the rockier side of BJ...

but then around that time my sister bought Crossroads and wanted to take it back to the shop but I had been listening to it so my Mum bought it off my sister and gave it to me... then that coincided with These Days being released within a year...

i remember around 1995 them telling me to listen to Pink Floyd - "you'll like it"

i just said no I won't and yet PF's Wish You Were Here was the first song I learned to play on acoustic guitar and then after that i was hoooked...

same with zeppelin - I learned Bron Y-Aur Stomp on acoustic... and got hooked on them too... in fact this song is quite traditional Celtic music in some ways - very folky

my parents do have very good music taste though and my uncle especially... my uncle used to go to see zeppelin, floyd, cream, deep purple, rainbow, ELP, Yes... etc all the time...

... it would have been a great time to be alive in those days... he says there was literally a band like ELP or Yes or Zeppelin playing Manchester every week (if not a few times a week!!)
