Check out the seating chart for his concert in Melbourne. His effectively changed the capacity from 55,000 to 25,000-30,000.
The reason it's good is if that's all his marketing company believes he will sell, it makes the atmosphere better as opposed to spreading 30,000 over 50-something thousand seats. Also, if the tickets DO happen to sell better than expected, they can easily set the stage back a little further and 'expand' the capacity by a few thousand.
I wish other bands had thought of this. I went to a RHCP concert at the same place, with only about 25,000 there. Great show, but it did feel a bit empty inside.
Why couldn't BJ do it? They'd easily get 35,000-40,000 in Melbourne and that's conservative.
BTW, isn't Bruce doing a similar thing at Giants Stadium?
